ABOUT US

Three decades ago, the parents of a few hearing impaired children in Mardan joined hands to set-up an institution for special education so their children could lead a life as close to normalcy as possible. In an area where children with disabilities are considered hopeless liabilities, this Centre was the first step towards filling the huge gap of special education in the region. From a three room rented building in 1985, the Centre has grown into a full-fledged institite for speech and hearing impaired children registered with the Social Welfare Department of Khyber-Pukhtoonkhwa Government since 1984. It offers special education from Class 1 to 10 (culminiating in Matriculation degree) and vocational and computer training under the guidance of some of the most experienced and qualified teachers in the country. The Center also operates a Speech Therapy Clinic five days a week for outpatients, facilitating patients and students from the entire Mardan, Swabi and Charsadda regions as well as far flung areas like Swat, Dir and beyond. Regular Counselling Sessions for Deaf children and their parents are conducted to facilitate the learning process.
